Title:Varno brisanje digitalnih sledi iz trajnega računalniškega pomnilnika : diplomsko delo

Abstract:V vsakdanjem življenju se velikokrat srečamo z zelo občutljivimi podatki, s katerimi je potrebno ravnati previdno, saj kljub brisanju, podatki še vedno ostanejo zapisani v pomnilniku, iz katerega jih je mogoče obnoviti. V diplomskem delu smo se osredotočili na varno brisanje podatkov ter na predstavitev in primerjavo izbranih tehnik varnega brisanja. Poudarili smo razliko med algoritmi brisanja na magnetnih diskih in bliskovnih pomnilnikih. Raziskali smo orodja za trajno brisanje podatkov na operacijskih sistemih Linux in Windows. Prikazali smo odkrivanje sledi trajnega brisanja ter možnosti izkopavanja podatkov. Razvili smo lastno orodje, ki se sooča z izboljšavami za širšo uporabnost. Zelo pomembno je še omeniti, da razvoj lastnih standardov zahteva veliko previdnost zaradi varnostnih tveganj in zaradi tega ni priporočljivo. Naša naloga prispeva k zavedanju o pomembnosti trajnega brisanja podatkov, predstavlja tehnološke možnosti za varen izbris in nakazuje potencial za nadaljnje raziskave na področju varnega brisanja podatkov.

Title:Secure wiping of digital traces from permanent computer memory
Abstract:In everyday life, we often have to deal with highly sensitive data that needs to be handled carefully. Even after the deletion, the data still remains stored in the memory and can be recovered. In our thesis, we focused on secure data deletion and described and compared selected techniques for secure data erasure. We explored tools for permanent data deletion on various operating systems (Linux and Windows), emphasizing the difference between algorithms on magnetic disks and flash memory. We also demonstrated the detection of traces of tools for secure deletion and data carving options. We developed our own tool, which incorporates improvements for broader use. It is crucial to mention that developing custom standards requires great caution due to security risks and is therefore not recommended. Our task contributes to raising awareness about the importance of permanent data deletion, presents technological options for safe erasure, and suggests potential for further research in the field of secure data wiping.
