Odločitev za študij računovodstva najmočneje povezana s percepcijami študentov o: (1) svojih matematičnih sposobnostih in veselju do dela s številkami – pozitivna zveza, (2) svoji redoljubnosti in natančnosti – pozitivna zveza, (3) svojem znanju tujega jezika – negativna zveza, (4) svojem veselju do učenja – pozitivna zveza, (5) svojem veselju do dela v pisarni – pozitivna zveza, (6) raznolikosti in razgibanosti dela v računovodstvu – pozitivna zveza, (7) ustvarjalnosti dela v računovodstvu – pozitivna zveza in (8) pomembnosti znanja matematike in veselja do dela s številkami v računovodskem poklicu – negativna zveza.

Title:The research of factors influencing the decision of students to study accounting
Abstract:In this thesis, a sample of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor is used to study the impact of (1) personal factors, (2) students' experience with accounting in the first year, and (3) students' perceptions of themselves and their competences, the accounting profession and work in the field of accounting on their decision to study in this field of study. The results show a statistically significant negative impact of negative experiences with the accounting subject in the first year and several statistically significant correlations with students' perceptions of themselves, their competences and the profession and work of accountants. The decision to study accounting is most strongly related to students' perceptions of (1) their mathematical ability and enjoyment of working with numbers - positive correlation, (2) their orderliness and accuracy - positive correlation, (3) their knowledge of a foreign language - negative correlation, (4) their enjoyment of learning - positive correlation, (5) their enjoyment of working in an office - positive correlation, and (6) the variety and diversity of work in accounting - positive correlation, (7) creativity in accounting - positive correlation and (8) importance of math knowledge and enjoyment of working with numbers in the accounting profession - negative correlation.
