Abstract:V diplomskem delu obravnavamo razvoj otroka od njegovega rojstva dalje in razvijanje navezanosti. Anketiranje in opazovanje je potekalo v treh različnih vrtcih: Vrtec Beltinci – enota Bibe, Vrtec Murska Sobota – enota Srnice in Vrtci občine Moravske Toplice.

Title:The child's separation from parents at daily arrival to kindergarten
Abstract:The diploma thesis discusses a child’s development from birth and the development of attachment. Attachment theory was developed by John Bowlby, who is considered one of the greatest researchers of this topic. Attachment theory defines the relationship between a child and a mother. In the thesis, emphasis is placed on attachment and child development, which is connected with the separation upon arrival at kindergarten and the handover of the child to the department. The attachment style children develop towards their parents depends on the parents themselves, the upbringing and the environment in which the children live and grow up. Based on all of these factors, several attachment styles may develop, which are important and impact the child’s entire life. Attachment is formed according to the parents’ relationship towards their child; therefore, it is very important how and in what manner parents respond to their child's needs when the latter needs them. In the development of attachment, the parents’ emotional state, as well as the way they share emotions with their child and satisfy the child’s needs, are extremely significant. In the child’s early life, the father and the mother bear the greatest importance, since they are both primary objects of socialization and represent a connection with the outside world. Although the primary object of attachment is the mother, children can also become attached to the father and to other people in their life or surroundings, which provide them with security and support. The theoretical part of the thesis describes child development, where the cognitive, emotional and social development are presented in greater detail. We defined the concept of attachment and extensively explored the theory of attachment, its development and significance, and described different styles of attachment. We also explained the difference between a child's attachment to the mother and the father. The empirical part of the thesis was divided into two parts, namely carrying out a survey with the kindergarten teachers, and observing children. The survey and the observation were conducted in three different kindergartens: The Beltinci Kindergarten - The Bibe Unit, The Murska Sobota Kindergarten - The Srnice Unit, and the kindergartens of the Moravske Toplice municipality. We interviewed 27 teachers and assistant teachers from all kindergartens, and observed a total of 219 children. The questionnaire, which was distributed to the teachers, aimed to determine how separation from parents upon being handed over to the kindergarten department affects the majority of children. We were interested in the way parents say goodbye to their child upon handover, the amount of time parents linger at the entrance to the playroom, the amount of time it takes for a child to calm down following a strong reaction to the parents’ departure, and the way teachers redirect the attention of children who react strongly to being separated from their parents. By using a child observation chart, we observed the transition from the changing room to the department, and the separation of children from their parents. The chart comprised of various set criteria, which were recorded while observing a child's behavior during the handover itself. The criteria were as follows: separation from parents with or without resistance, crying or no crying, teacher intervention or no teacher intervention. All obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS. We have found that handing over a child from the changing room to the playroom mostly takes place calmly and quickly, and that the majority of children are satisfied and do not express strong emotions or resistance.
