Abstract:Diplomsko delo celovito preučuje zaznavanje, ozaveščenost in zaščitne ukrepe pred kibernetsko kriminaliteto med uporabniki interneta v pomurski regiji v Sloveniji. Raziskava meri stopnjo razumevanja in strahu pred kibernetsko kriminaliteto, obseg sprejetih zaščitnih ukrepov in zaznano resnost kibernetske kriminalitete.

Title:Cybercrime user's risk assesment in Pomurje
Abstract:This diploma thesis offers a comprehensive examination of perceptions, awareness, and protective measures against cybercrime among internet users in the Pomurje region of Slovenia. The study forms an integral part of the increasing body of research dedicated to understanding the digital landscape from a cybersecurity perspective, specifically in the Pomurje region. The research is grounded in a broad theoretical framework, embracing both local and international perspectives on cybercrime and cyber risk awareness. This contextual foundation enables a deeper understanding of the unique cybersecurity landscape in Pomurje, a region whose online user behavior has been relatively understudied. At the heart of the thesis is a survey-based study conducted among internet users in Pomurje. The study gauges the level of understanding and fear of cybercrime, the extent of protective measures adopted, and the perceived severity of cybercrime. Findings reveal a significant awareness of potential online threats among respondents, while also highlighting a concerning gap between awareness and the implementation of comprehensive protective measures. This gap demonstrates that knowledge and awareness do not always lead to proactive behavior in online safety. The study found that the most frequently reported cybercrimes in the region included unsolicited messages and unauthorized account access. However, these crimes were generally not perceived as severe threats warranting law enforcement intervention. The study underscores the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity education and a stronger culture of online safety in Pomurje, particularly in light of the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.
