Title:The process of inclusion of outdoor learning into the geography curriculum
Abstract:The fundamental purpose of the following Master thesis was to analyse operative learning objectives written in the geography curriculum for primary schools, according to whether they can be realized in or outside the classroom and create two different scenarios for the inclusion of outdoor learning in the primary school annual curriculum implementation or lesson script for geography class on two different levels, conservative and progressive. The theoretical part defines the meaning and position of field work in geography class at a primary school. We also defined conditions necessary for the realization of field work for educational purposes, advantages, and obstacles for the inclusion of field work in education and the process of outdoor learning realization. The empirical part is based on the preparation of two implementation annual plans or scripts, focused on the inclusion of outdoor learning in geography elementary classes, one at the conservative or elementary level and one at the progressive or advanced level. For this purpose, we proposed some suggestions concerning the scripts of outdoor learning at geography class, which can be included at the elementary or advanced level of annual planning. With help of the interview method, we presented both annual implementation curricula of outdoor learning inclusion into geography class to a geography elementary school teacher. Based on our findings, we conclude there are many objectives and contents in the geography curriculum at a primary school that can be carried out with help of field work and that outdoor learning could be realized based on two different scenarios, elementary and advanced level.
