Abstract:Zaključno delo obravnava vpliv prostovoljskega dela v Jamarski reševalni službi (JRS) na njeno zmožnost operativnega delovanja.

Title:Volunteer work in the slovenian cave rescue service and its influence on ensuring the operational capabilities
Abstract:The final thesis examines the impact of the volunteer work of the Cave Rescue Service on its ability to maintain operational readiness. In the theoretical part we described the specifics of rescue operations in cave environment and presented the health risks to which cave rescuers are subjected. We found that the Cave Rescue Service does not have adequate programmes to protect and maintain health and well-being, which led us to conduct a survey of cave rescuers on their physical activity and health status. The survey also examined the impact of work commitments on cave rescuers' ability to respond when accident occurs. Geographic information systems were used to analyse the geographic characteristics of Slovenia that affect response times. We found that most cave entrances are relatively close to the road network, but we also identified particular areas that are relatively inaccessible. Volunteer work certainly has a major impact on the speed of response to cave rescue operations, but it is possible to reduce response times by taking certain measures.
