Title:Poučevanje TJ na nižji stopnji OŠ v Španiji : magistrsko delo

Abstract:V magistrskem delu predstavljamo značilnosti pouka angleščine kot tujega jezika (TJ) v 1. vzgojno izobraževalnem obdobju (VIO) osnovne šole (OŠ) v Španiji. Z opazovanjem pouka tujega jezika na španski OŠ smo pridobili podatke o uporabi prvega, maternega, jezika oziroma jezika okolja (španščine) in angleščine kot tujega jezika, učnih pristopov in učnih pripomočkov. Opazovanje pouka angleščine kot tujega jezika smo izvedli z vnaprej pripravljenim obrazcem. Opazovali smo razred 18-ih učencev. Ker gre za osnovno šolo, ki izvaja pouk po metodi montessori, so bili učenci v razredu mešanih starosti (od 6 do 8 let). S polstrukturiranim intervjujem smo dobili vpogled tudi v izobrazbo in izkušnje dveh učiteljic, ki poučujeta tuj jezik na razredni stopnji OŠ. Na podlagi opazovanj pouka angleščine kot tujega jezika na razredni stopnji OŠ smo ugotovili, da učiteljici za discipliniranje in podajanje razlage večinoma uporabljata angleščino. Učenci za komuniciranje med seboj in z učiteljicama uporabljajo jezik okolja (španščino). Spoznali smo tudi, da učiteljici najpogosteje uporabljata metodo frontalnega pouka, pa tudi metodo prevajanja iz angleškega jezika v španski jezik, metodo individualnega reševanja učnih listov in nekaj aktivnosti z gibanjem. Uporabljata veliko vizualnega, avditivnega in avdio-vizualnega gradiva. Rabe informacijsko komunikacijskih tehnologij (IKT) se poslužujeta redkeje, najpogosteje tabličnega računalnika. S pomočjo polstrukturiranega intervjuja smo ugotovili, da ima zgolj ena od obeh intervjuvanih učiteljic dokončano univerzitetno izobrazbo za poučevanje angleščine kot tujega jezika. Ugotovitve naše raziskave lahko koristijo učiteljicama opazovanega razreda, ki lahko na podlagi rezultatov naših opazovanj nadgradita svoje pristope k poučevanju angleščine kot tujega jezika. Hkrati lahko ugotovitve našega magistrskega dela služijo kot vodilo pri poučevanju angleščine kot tujega jezika drugim učiteljem, saj smo navedli nekaj primerov učnih pristopov in pripomočkov, ki lahko izboljšajo učenčevo razumevanje podajane snovi pri pouku angleščine kot tujega jezika.

Title:Foreign language teaching in a spanish primary school
Abstract:The master's thesis introduces the characteristics of teaching English as a foreign language in the first three years of an elementary school in Spain. Through lesson observation, we obtained data regarding the use of the language of instruction (Spanish) and English as a foreign language, teaching approaches, and teaching aids. Through the guided interviews, we also gained insight into the education and experience of the teachers. We observed a class of 18 students. Since it is a Montessori primary school, the students in the class were of mixed age. We conducted the lesson observation using a form prepared in advance. For a more detailed insight into the teaching of English as a foreign language, we conducted two more interviews with female teachers of English. The findings show that the teachers mostly use English for disciplining and explaining. Students use their language of instruction (Spanish) to communicate with each other and with teachers. We also discovered that both teachers mostly use the frontal instruction, translation, solving individual worksheets, and some activities with movement. They use a lot of visual, auditory, and audio-visual material. Information and communications technology (ICT) is less often used. Through the guided interviews with teachers, we found that only one of the teachers is qualified as an English teacher. The findings of our research can be of assistance to the observed teachers. They can use the observation results to improve or maintain their way of teaching. Additionally, the findings can also help other foreign language teachers as we have recommended some examples of teaching/learning approaches, and tools that can improve the student's understanding of the presented material in a foreign language classroom.
