Title:Razširjenost evropskega bobra (Castor fiber) v severovzhodni Sloveniji v povezavi z habitatnimi in antropogenimi dejavniki

Abstract:Bobrove sledi lahko že od leta 2003 opazujemo na vodotokih v SV Sloveniji. Na tem območju smo na 38 raziskovalnih odsekih želeli: 1) ugotoviti razširjenost bobra v obdobju treh let (2020, 2021 in 2022), 2) oceniti primernost habitatov na območju, ki jo močno zaznamujeta kmetijstvo in urbanizacija, 3) predstaviti spremembo v rabi zemljišč v zadnjih 14 letih v 20-metrskem pasu okrog vodnih teles ter 4) oceniti učinek človekovih neposrednih posegov v bobrov habitat in na ta način izpostaviti problematiko ogroženosti bobra. Ugotovili smo, da se je bober v zadnjih letih razširil na večino vodotokov in se že pojavlja v suboptimalnih habitatih. Pri analizi rabe zemljišč smo ugotovili, da se je v zadnjih 14 letih povečala površina njiv in kmetijskih ter pozidanih zemljišč, hkrati pa se je zmanjšala površina gozda, dreves, grmičevja in mokrišč. Poleg spremenjene rabe zemljišč lahko človek na bobra močno vpliva tudi preko različnih posegov in motenj. V času raziskave smo zabeležili uničevanje jezu in bobrišč, nastavljanje odvračal in posek celotne vegetacije v obrežnem pasu na širšem območju tik ob vodi. Vse našteto skupaj, z možno spremenjeno rabo zemljišč, lahko potencialno vpliva na stanje bobrove populacije na območju. Dolgoročen vpliv tovrstnih motenj na bobra lahko ugotovimo šele z večletnim monitoringom.

Title:Distribution of European beaver (Castor fiber) in northeastern Slovenia in relation to habitat and anthropogenic factors
Abstract:Signs of beaver activity have been observed on watercourses in NE Slovenia since 2003. In 38 research sites, we wanted to: 1) determine the distribution of beavers over a period of three years (2020, 2021 and 2022), 2) assess the suitability of habitats in an agricultural and urban land, 3) present the change in land use in the last 14 years in a 20-meter zone around water and 4) assess the effect of human impact in the beaver habitat and in this way highlight the issue of beaver endangerment. We found that beavers have spread to most watercourses in recent years and are already occurring in suboptimal habitats. When analyzing land use, we found that in the last 14 years, the area of fields and agricultural and built-up land has increased, while at the same time the area of forest, trees and shrubs has decreased. In addition to changed land use, humans can have a strong impact on beavers through various disturbances. During our research, we recorded the destruction of dams and beaver lodges, other disturbances and the destruction of the riparian zone in a wider area right next to the water. All of the above, together with possible land use changes, can potentially affect the state of the beaver population in the area. The long-term impact of such disturbances on beavers can only be ascertained with several years of monitoring.
