Title:Technical and environmental requirements for the cessation of waste status in the field of construction waste
Abstract:The issue of the circular economy in the field of construction waste is discussed in the thesis. The regulations and laws that govern this area in the Republic of Slovenia are summarized. We have highlighted projects domestically and around the world that have proven their worth by integrating secondary raw materials into new construction and reconstruction of buildings. We have studied in detail the Cinderella project that took place in our region, among others. From the knowledge gained, we have created an algorithm for ending the waste status, which we hope will contribute to a simpler and more transparent solution to the problem of using secondary raw materials. We have also successfully confirmed all the given hypotheses, namely: that there are wastes with the potential for secondary use; that these materials, in the right proportion, do not affect the properties of primary materials; and that it is possible to use these secondary raw materials in construction. We found that the field of using secondary raw materials is still in the development phase, but there are already projects that are successfully using these raw materials as main or auxiliary building blocks in construction. We also found that the legislation in this area is based on an individual approach to each secondary raw material. Slovenian experts and Slovenian society are among the leading countries in the world in the field of recycling and reuse of household and industrial waste. Thus, by developing science in the field of circular economy, we make an important contribution to the preservation of the environment and social values.
Keywords:circular economy, construction waste, secondary raw materials, end of waste status, algorithm for end of waste status.
