Izvedli smo sistematični pregled literature, katerega potek smo prikazali s PRISMA diagramom. Za presojo in oceno kakovosti raziskav smo uporabili hierarhijo dokazov in JBI orodje.

Title:Cinnamon and diabetes type 2
Abstract:Cinnamon is a popular spice that is believed to have beneficial effects on blood sugar regulation when used. However, some studies report equivocal results on the effect of cinnamon on blood sugar regulation in patients with type 2 diabetes. Patients often choose to use cinnamon as an adjunctive treatment for type 2 diabetes, so it is crucial to determine its effects on blood sugar regulation. We performed a systematic review of the literature, the course of which was shown with PRISMA diagram. We used the hierarchy of evidence and the JBI tool to assess and assess the quality of research. The synthesis was carried out in a descriptive manner. We included 9 studies in the analysis. 77,7% (7/9) of research reports a positive effect of using cinnamon on blood sugar regulation, with fasting blood sugar regulation at the forefront (7/9; 77,7% of research). It also has a significant impact on lowering HbA1c (4/9; 44,4% of studies) and other glycemic parameters (2/9; 22,2% of studies). However, despite its positive effects on blood sugar regulation, two studies reported non-significant results of cinnamon on blood sugar regulation (2/9; 22,2%), which can be attributed to the lower daily intake of cinnamon, smaller population sample and shorter study period. Cinnamon has great potential to regulate blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additional research is needed, which will be based on a large population, a longer period of time, and the appropriate amount and form of cinnamon used.
