Title:A comparison of storytelling with series of pictures and picture with more elements
Abstract:The thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part, we discussed speech development, which is extremely important for children in the preschool period. We focused on a number of factors that impact speech and language development. However, since our thesis relates to storytelling, we discovered what kind of stories we can expect from children of a certain age, how the development of storytelling increases, and how we improve children's vocabulary. An important role in communication also plays listening, so in our theoretical part, we focused on different techniques of listening and how to improve them. The empirical part of the thesis presents the gathered information obtained from collecting and analyzing stories. The research included 14 children aged from 5 to 6 years. In the research, we compared storytelling with a series of three pictures and one picture with more elements. Numerous studies show that children created longer stories with the help of the three pictures technique, which they could place in any order, in comparison with the picture with more elements. Furthermore, in the empirical part of our research, we found out that the children were more likely to use more words, sentences and events in storytelling when using the set of 3 pictures.
