Navedene konstrukte smo merili z Lestvico vključenosti v prostovoljno preprostost, Lestvico zadovoljstva z življenjem, Mednarodnim seznamom pozitivnih in negativnih afektov, Vprašalnikom depresije, anksioznosti in stresa ter Kentuckyjskim vprašalnikom čuječnostnih spretnosti. Izoblikovali smo dve testni bateriji; eno v slovenskem in drugo v angleškem jeziku, ter povezavo do obeh delili preko različnih socialnih omrežij.

Title:Mindfulness as a mediator between voluntary simplicity and positive and negative aspects of psychological functioning
Abstract:Voluntary simplicity has a conceptual overlap with the increasingly popular lifestyle we call minimalism. Adherents report that this lifestyle is supposed to be beneficial for the individual. As these benefits have not yet been studied in detail, our master's thesis focused on exploring mindfulness as a mediator between voluntary simplicity and the positive (subjective well-being) and negative (stress, anxiety, depression) aspects of psychological functioning. These constructs were measured using the Voluntary Simplicity Engagement Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the International Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale, and the Kentucky Inventory of Mindfulness Skills. We designed two test batteries; one in Slovenian and the other in English, and the links to both were shared through various social networks. We included 1260 participants – 346 of whom were the Slovenian sample, and 914 the international sample – in the statistical analyses, which were performed separately for both samples. Mindfulness in all four mediation models was shown to be an important mediator in explaining the links between voluntary simplicity and subjective well-being, as well as stress, anxiety, and depression. However, in certain cases, not all assumptions for conducting mediation analyses were met, thus the results should be viewed critically. In our master's thesis, we proposed ideas for improvement and for further research of this lifestyle.
