Abstract:V diplomskem delu obravnavamo tematiko palmovega olja, njegove oskrbovalne verige in okoljske probleme, ki jih povzročajo zahteve po palmovem olju.

Title:Sustainable palm oil supply chain implementation challenges
Abstract:In this degree paper we are discussing palm oil, its supply chain and the environmental problems that the demands for palm oil are causing. Along with the rapid increase of worldwide population, the demand for palm oil is increasing as well, which is why we need to resolve these problems. The key elements would be finding new alternatives and striving for sustainable palm oil production. We analyzed the supply chain of palm oil and the problems that the new plantations are causing to the environment. In the empirical part, we asked the companies if they are using sustainable products, inquired about their certificates, the environmental problems and their alternatives. We were interested if the companies are striving for green policies. The research was carried out with the help of a survey that we sent to the companies by e-mail. We wanted to research and evaluate the use of palm oil in everyday life, and seek a more sustainable solution. We found out that sustainability is important to companies, but only insofar it does not lower their profit too much. They are aware of the consequences the palm oil is causing, but their priorities are quality and low-cost production. We also found out that there are no real alternatives that could replace palm oil.
Keywords:palm oil, supply chain, sustainability, alternatives, environmental problems.
