Abstract:	V diplomskem delu smo ugotavljali smiselnost uvedbe mestne železnice na mariborsko območje. Število avtomobilov na cestah raste, medtem pa se je v zadnjih desetletjih uporaba javnega potniškega prometa izrazito zmanjšala. Posledično se je zato povečala stopnja onesnaženosti in poslabšala mobilnost, predvsem v urbanih območjih. Večja stopnja onesnaženja ima negativne posledice za človekovo zdravje, večja stopnja avtomobilov pa povzroča zastoje in posledično podaljšuje čas potovanja. Ugotovili smo, da je zrak na mariborskem območju onesnažen precej bolj kot v kakšnih drugih evropskih mestih, tudi večjih, hkrati pa se je število vozil na tem območju v primerjavi s prejšnjim desetletjem povečalo. V diplomskem delu smo zato podali naš predlog mestne železnice na mariborskem območju in s pomočjo ankete ugotovili, da bi večina anketirancev podprla naš predlog, saj jih je večina označila, da bi mestno železnico uporabljala, prav tako se večini zdi njena uvedba smiselna.

Title:	Maribor city railway and the impact on sustainable mobility
Abstract:	In this diploma thesis we have studied if it's possible to implement a city railway in the Maribor area. The number of cars on the roads are rising, whilist the usage of public transportation has fallen significantly in the last decades. Subsequently the pollution has risen and mobility has worsened, especially in the urban areas. Higher pollution has a negative impact for human health, while a higher number of cars on the roads leads to congestion and extends travel time. We have found out that the air quality in the Maribor area is poorer compared to other European cities, even larger ones, also the number of vehicles in this area has risen in the last decade. In this diploma thesis we have therefore presented our proposal for the implementation of the city railway to the Maribor area and with the help from the survey we have determined that most people would support the idea. The majority of the respondents have answered that they would use the city railway and the majority also thinks that the idea is sensible.
