Title:Fizični vpliv na obnovitev podatkov z odprtokodnimi forenzičnimi orodji : diplomsko delo

Abstract:Pomnilniški mediji so postali eden izmed najpomembnejših virov dokazov v sodnih postopkih. Pri kibernetskih zločinih pogosto vsebujejo najpomembnejše dokaze. Glavni namen diplomskega dela je bil spoznati potek forenzične preiskave in postopek obnovitve podatkov, ki se nahajajo na pomnilniških medijih. V sklopu zaključnega dela smo izvedli eksperiment, kjer smo pomnilniške medije izpostavili trem različnim okoljem, ki lahko potencialno vplivajo na podatke. Forenzične slike smo pregledali z odprtokodnima forenzičnima orodjema, s katerima smo tudi naredili analizo. Ugotovili smo, da magnetno polje in toplota ne vplivata na podatke. Odpiranje trdega diska je v večji meri uničilo podatke, na USB ključku pa ni bilo sprememb. Sklepamo, da bi poškodovani pomnilniški mediji lahko vplivali na potek sodnega postopka.

Title:Physical impact on data recovery with open source forensic tools
Abstract:Storage devices have become one of the most important sources of evidence in court proceedings. In cybercrime, they often represent the most important evidence. The primary purpose of this work was to learn the course of a forensic investigation and the process of data recovery on storage devices. Within this work, we performed an experiment in which we exposed storage devices to three different environmental influences that can potentially physically affect logical data. Forensic images were examined with open-source forensic tools, which were also used for the analysis. We discovered that the magnetic field and heat do not affect data. Opening a hard drive destroyed most of the data, and there were no changes to the USB stick in this case. We conclude that damaged storage media could influence the course of court proceedings.
