Abstract:Ustno zdravje predstavlja komponento zdravega življenjskega sloga.

Title:The Family's Role in Preschool Children's Oral Hygiene
Abstract:Oral hygiene is a component of a healthy lifestyle. Based on the child's age, the approach to oral hygiene and oral hygiene tools need to be adjusted accordingly. Good tooth brushing habits can benefit children throughout their lives, and it is the parents' behaviour that influences the child's attitude towards tooth brushing. It is the role of the parents to educate their children on proper tooth brushing techniques and healthy eating habits, as this will help them maintain their teeth clean and healthy. The theoretical framework of this bachelor thesis discusses the family, its role, and functions. It also describes teeth development in children, dental care and oral hygiene, as well as preschool children's diet. In addition, it explains the role of parents in preschool children's oral hygiene and dental care. The empirical part presents the results of an online survey that was completed by 135 parents of preschool children. The main objective was to research the role of parents in their children's oral hygiene and dental care based on the parents' sex and level of education, and the child's age. The gathered data were analysed using SPSS Statistics. The results of the research show that parents adequately take care of their children's oral hygiene and act as good role models regardless of their sex, level of education, or the child's age.
