Title:The influence of covid-19 disease on the organisation of work at the nursing home residents
Abstract:The pandemic has severely affected the health care system around the world, and among the most at risk were nursing homes. Nursing homes faced various challenges during the epidemic. Lack of protective equipment, disinfectants, rapid tests are just some of the problems that arose during the epidemic. The goals and purpose of the task were representatives of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the organization of work in nursing homes in Slovenia. We wanted to find out what plans the homes have for controlling the epidemic, what went well with those plans and what went bad. Employees in nursing homes at the time of the epidemic were included in the survey. Based on the analysis of the results, we found that the main problems are related to the fact that we encountered in homes in Slovenia lack of staff, untimely education of employees on measures to prevent the spread of virus and lack of professional assistance (education, training, relaxation workshops) for employees to help them cpe with stress and new situation. In the future, the emphasis would be on appropriate and timely education of employees. Theoretical and practical training on the topic of preventive and protective measures would be mandatory, which would be repeated every couple of months and would be mandatory for all new employees in nursing homes. In addition, we would add additional training or stress management workshops to help employees cope with stress in new situations. In this way, employee burnout could also be reduced.
