Title:Effectiveness of Relaxation Techniques and Meditation According to Yoga in Daily Life System as a Stress Management Tool for Working With Children In Kindergarten
Abstract:Research on the effectiveness of physical exercises and meditation according to the Yoga in Daily Life system (Maheshwarananda, 2009) was conducted at the Zarja Celje Kindergarten. In the theoretical part, she defines and connects the concepts of stress, mindfulness, and presents some physical exercises (asanas), as well as research on the effectiveness of yoga as a way to deal with stress. In the empirical part, the quantitative analysis is used, together with an experiment – the implementation of a 12-week of Relaxation Classes with Yoga program. The research observes the differences between the group of all preschool teachers at the beginning of the experiment and the group of preschool teachers who attended the Program. Differences in different aspects of mindfulness and perceived stress levels were observed. The research also discusses the causes of stress when working with children and the stress management techniques used. The perceived usefulness of the Program among the participants was also measured. It turned out that the Program participants had higher average values in all aspects of mindfulness (observation, description, acting with awareness, non-judgment, and non-response). In contrast, the differences in perceived stress levels were negligible. Participants identified the Program as useful for their stress management and in working with children.
