Vse udeleženke so pred izvedbo intervencije izpolnile baterijo vprašalnikov, nato so udeleženke eksperimentalne skupine obiskovale dvotedenski program krepitve duševnega zdravja, udeleženke kontrolne skupine pa intervencije niso prejele.

Title:Development, implementation and evaluation of mental health promotion programme in a women's prison
Abstract:Female prisoners represent a special group of prisoners, characterized by high incidence of mental health issues. As a part of this master thesis, a mental health promotion programme was developed and implemented on the female convicts in the Ig prison. The experimental study included 18 participants – 7 in the experimental group and 11 in the control group. Before the intervention, all participants completed a battery of questionnaires. The participants of the experimental group then attended a two-week mental health promotion programme, while the participants of the control group did not receive the intervention. During and at the end of the programme, the experimental group participated in the evaluation of the programme. At the end of the programme, both groups also completed the same battery of questionnaires they were given at the beginning. To evaluate the effects of the intervention, a mixed MANOVA (quantitative research) and a content analysis (qualitative research) were carried out. Quantitative results show the success of the intervention in improving mental health literacy about depression and anxiety. Qualitative results show that participants perceived the programme as useful and effective in informing female prisoners on ways to cope with mental health issues. It is suggested to conduct more studies and interventions in (Slovenian) women’s prisons in the future, focusing on ways to include unmotivated female prisoners.
