Abstract:V zadnjih letih je človeštvo s svojim nespametnim ravnanjem močno ogrozilo okolje. Evropska unija čedalje bolj spodbuja trajnostno gradbeništvo, torej predelavo nenevarnih gradbenih odpadkov v lahke frakcije in varno odstranitev gradbenih odpadkov.

Title:Investigating the move towards circular economy: a case study of the city of ljubljana
Abstract:In recent years, humanity's foolish actions have threatened the environment. The consequences of an egocentric attitude towards the environment are already evident in natural disasters (floods, fires, drought, lack of drinking water, world hunger, etc.). Construction waste is one of the heavy metals and should not be released into the environment under any circumstances. Despite the increased environmental awareness in Slovenia, we still have wild landfills scattered all over the country. Regardless of the type and amount of waste that ends up in the environment, it is only a burden on the environmental system. Asbestos waste is a huge burden on the environment. It contains toxic, carcinogenic substances and is very dangerous to the environment, humans and animals. The renovation of the former Rog factory will generate enormous amounts of construction waste. The European Union is increasingly promoting sustainable construction, i.e. the processing of non-hazardous construction waste into light fractions and the safe disposal of construction waste. The renovation of the former Rog factory will take into account all environmental measures and guidelines of the circular economy. Asbestos waste must be safely disposed of with other hazardous construction waste and taken to the nearest regional centre, and non-hazardous waste must be separated from hazardous waste. Environmentally friendly construction materials will be used in the Center Rog. The Center Rog will be energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Through three interviews, we learned that the City of Ljubljana has well-established strategies in the areas of circular economy, construction waste management and other types of waste. Through the interviews we learned that the project "Center Rog" is an environmentally friendly project.
