Abstract:Pravopisna zmožnost zajema sposobnost teoretičnega poznavanja in praktične uporabe pravil pri določenem jeziku. Dosegli so uspešnost v 90,0 %.

Title:Orthographic competence of 9th graders in primary school
Abstract:Orthographic competence includes the ability of theoretical knowledge and practical rule usage of a specific language. Master thesis entitled Orthographic Competence of 9th Graders in Primary School discusses communicative competence, communicative activities, e.g., listening, speaking, reading and writing, literacy, orthographic literacy, the role of the teacher, the curriculum for the subject of Slovene (2018) in which we find aims and objectives, and at the end of the theoretical part, we discuss the rules of orthography which are related to the goals of orthographic competence. The empirical part is based on research where 150 9th graders from 4 different schools answered questions from a questionnaire regarding orthographic competence. With the help of a questionnaire which had 6 tasks in total, we were able to examine and research to what extent do the Slovenian 9th graders know and successfully use orthographic competence. The questionnaire had 3 subsections: end marks, prepositions k/h and s/z and lowercase and uppercase letters. The questionnaire was created accordingly to the curriculum. The learners were the most successful when dealing with prepositions k/h and s/z. They achieved a success rate of 90%. The learners had the most problems with the tasks regarding lowercase and uppercase letters where they achieved a 73% success rate. The learners of the 9th grade achieved an overall positive success rate in all the tasks and subsections which means that they have successfully developed orthographic competence.
