Title:Rural crime
Abstract:Rural crimes are crimes committed in rural area, outside of urban and industrial places. It derives from the way and structure of life in rural areas, this is mainly reflected in farming (countryside / rural environment), which is again different depending on whether we study flat or hilly areas, or east or west of the country and development in areas. In the diploma we examined the topic of crimes in rural areas in more detail ways. We decided on this topic because of lack of studies in this area, although crime happens in rural areas often, but it’s not defined as rural crime. We found that most criminal acts are related to ecological or environmental issues, some crimes come with poverty, neighborhood and family disputes, etc. Crime acts that are typical of rural areas are: pesticide abuse, illegal fertilizers, illegal veterinary products; illegal dumping of waste, incineration and burial of waste, sewage; illegal logging, wood theft; animal torture; theft and damage to agricultural machinery, poaching; harvesting of protected plants and excessive harvesting of fruits; destruction and theft of natural and cultural heritage, illegal slaughter of animals, sale of agricultural products and meat on the black market. When it comes to size and means of rural crime Slovenia isn’t different than other countries, but because of its size there is fewer heavy crimes such as murder, large animal stealing etc.
