|Abstract:||The contemporary man leads a fast-paced lifestyle and each free minute, hour is valuable. Due to its small size, Slovenia is at an advantage as all cities are relatively near; however, even an hour spent on our way to work is valuable. Because Slovenia is so small, we can reach our destination relatively quickly, traffic permitting. For this reason, we find it important that our jobs are as close to our homes as possible. That, however, is not always the case, and many people drive to work to a neighbouring city or make their way to our capital, Ljubljana.
We are interested in how people, who are full-time employees, go to work, whether they use public transport or prefer to drive a car. In addition, we are interested in how important is to them their free time and the time they spend with their family and loved ones are. We did the research with multiple regression based on the answers we got with the survey questionnaire. We did not have a target group, we wanted a sample as large as possible.
Public transport in Slovenia is poorly organized. The connections and timetables are poor, trains are not as fast, and the savings are not significant if the transportation of choice is a personal automobile. However, this mode of transportation more often than not involves a parking problem. Not every company has enough parking spaces for all of their employees, which is why some people opt to drive to work together or start from home early to secure a free parking space.
A number of people focus on their careers and value their reputation; however, their free time is also important to them, regardless if they prefer to spend it by themselves or with their families, that is why they opt for the mode of transportation which is fastest and also cheapest for them to get to work.|
