Abstract:Uvod: Agresija in nasilje sta pogosta, vendar premalo zaznana problema v bolnišničnem okolju, ki ju doživljajo izvajalci zdravstvene nege. Ob agresivnem incidentu so občutili ogroženost (3,23 ± 0,94), strah (3,12 ± 1,09) in nemoč (3,12 ± 1,13).

Title:Aggression and violence in the hospital environment
Abstract:Introduction: Aggression and violence is a common but under-perceived problem in the hospital environment experienced by nursing care providers. The purpose of the final work was to investigate aggression and violence in the hospital environment, the frequency of occurrence, and the action and confrontation of nursing care providers. Methods: In the theoretical part of the diploma work, we used a descriptive method to review domestic and foreign literature. In the research work we used the quantitative research method. The study was conducted in a hospital setting in the surgical, internal, and psychiatric wards. 90 nursing providers from 30 from each department participated. The research instrument was a survey questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel and IBM SPSS Statistic 27. Results: Research has shown that nurses in the departments involved in the study often perceive violence. Verbal violence is the most common (n = 79). The most commonly used are shouting, cursing, insulting, intimidating. Due to violence-related events, nursing providers report sleep problems. 15. 6% of respondents who have experienced violence also report injury. At the time of the aggressive incident, they felt threatened (3.23 ± 0.94), fear (3.12 ± 1.09) and helplessness (3.12 ± 1.13). Discussion and conclusion: We found that those involved in the study often experience violence and encounter aggressive patients, which threatens their safety and affects their work. Healthcare professionals need to be provided with support and regular training on how to take action and prevent aggressive and violent acts, and to be encouraged to report incidents.
