Abstract:Izhodišča: Kakovost življenja je osrednja tematika številnih študij. Za ugotavljanje kakovosti življenja in počutja starostnikov je bil uporabljen validiran vprašalnik »Euro Quality of life – 5 Dimension« (EQ-5D-5L).

Title:The perception of the quality of life of the residents in a retirement home
Abstract:Theoretical background: Quality of life is a central theme of many studies. There are many definitions of what a quality life is and above all what a quality of life is in old age. The purpose of the research was to find out how residents in nursing homes assess their quality of life. Methods: In the empirical part, a quantitative research methodology was used. A validated 'Euro Quality of life – 5 Dimension' questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L) was used to determine the quality of life and well-being of the elderly. The study included 158 residents of old people's homes from Austria, Slovenia and Hungary. Results: Most elderly people in homes have very great problems with movement, are unable to take care of personal hygiene and perform daily activities on their own, but still have no problems or have few problems with feeling unwell or feeling sad. It was found that older people participate in organized activities differently. Older people rate their health as satisfactory and good, while most experience quality of life as poor. Discussion and conclusion: Experiencing the quality of life of older people strongly depends on the health status of the elderly or their health assessment, because the research has shown that those older people who rate their health as poor also experience quality of life as poor. It should also be emphasized that the quality of life is also affected by involvement in activities organized in a home for the elderly. Participants are often involved in organized activities, the reason for which is supposed to be in the way of life in previous periods of life.
