Title:Upravljanje virtualnih okolij in avtomatizirano nameščanje programov : diplomsko delo

Abstract:Virtualna okolja so vse bolj tesno povezana z IT podjetji in se vse bolj razvijajo ter napredujejo. Kadar opravljamo delo, za katerega potrebujemo več operacijskih sistemov naenkrat, se lahko poslužimo gostovanja virtualnih okolij na osebnem računalniku. Pri takem gostovanju smo omejeni na vire osebnega računalnika. Ko ti viri niso več zadostni, se lahko odločimo za nakup strežnika ali pa začnemo gostovati okolja v oblaku. V diplomskem delu smo kreirali virtualna okolja, tako na osebnem računalniku, kot tudi v oblaku. Med seboj smo po zmogljivosti in po ceni virtualnih okolij primerjali tri najbolj razširjene ponudnike gostovanja v oblaku. Glede na izbrane kriterije in rezultate podatkovne analize, se je za najboljšo izbiro izkazalo okolje Microsoft Azure. Okolja smo primerjali s pomočjo orodja, ki na okolju izvaja hitro Fourierevo transformacijo. Meritve so pokazale, da je najhitrejše okolje na Azure. Azure okolje se je izkazalo za najboljše, tako pri eno jedrni, kot tudi pri več jedrni obremenitvi. AWS okolje je bilo drugo najhitrejše. Pri eno jedrni obremenitvi so bile razlike z Azure srednje velike, a ne statistično značilne, medtem ko so bile pri več jedrni obremenitvi bile razlike velike in statistično značilne. Razvili smo tudi spletni vmesnik, preko katerega smo na lokalnem okolju lahko kreirali nova virtualna okolja, nadzorovali obstoječa okolja in na daljavo nameščali programe na ta okolja.

Title:Managing of virtual machines and automated software installation
Abstract:Virtual environments, which are rapidly developing, are progressively strongly associated with IT enterprises. When we encounter a problem, which requires the use of multiple operating systems at once, we can host virtual environments on the personal computer. In such case we are limited by the resources of the personal computer, as we reach the limits of those resources, we can choose to purchase a server, or we can host our virtual environment on the cloud. In the thesis we created virtual environment on the personal computer as well as on the cloud. We compared virtual environments of the three most popular cloud hosting providers, by using performance and price as a criterion. We found that the best choice is Microsoft Azure on both accounts. For the comparison, we used a tool which executed fast Fourier transformation. Measurements showed that the fastest environment was on Azure. Azure environment was the fastest at single threaded load as well as at multithreaded load. AWS environment was the second fastest. At single threaded load the differences with Azure were medium large but statistically insignificant. Meanwhile at multithreaded load the differences were large and statistically significant. We also developed a web interface with which we could create new virtual environments, monitor, and remotely install programs on existing environments.
