Abstract:Polimerni materiali so del našega vsakdana. Sintetiziramo jih lahko na več načinov. V okviru diplomske naloge smo sintetizirali poli(vinilbenzil klorid-ko-divinilbenzenske) monolite s polimerizacijo kontinuirne faze emulzije z visokim deležem notranje faze in s polimerizacijo v masi. Reakcijo polimerizacije smo inducirali z uporabo termičnega iniciatorja α,α'-azoisobutironitrila, redoks iniciatorja N,N,N',N'- tetrametiletan-1,2-diaminom v kombinaciji s termičnim iniciatorjem amonijevim persulfatom in fotoiniciatorjema Irgacure 784 in H-Nu 470. Polimerizacija kontinuirne faze emulzije na osnovi vinilbenzil klorid-ko-trimetilpropan triakrilata in polimerzacija vinilbenzil klorida zamreženega s trimetilpropan triakrilatom v masi, sta bili uspešni s fotoiniciatorjem Irgacure 784. Na osnovi rezultatov sklepamo, da na uspešnost polimerizacije vpliva več dejavnikov. V našem primeru izbrano zamreževalo, izbran iniciator in vir svetlobe.

Title:Polymerisation of benzyl chloride derivatives in emulsion media
Abstract:Polymeric materials are part of our everyday life. They can be synthesized in several ways. As part of the diploma thesis, we synthesized poly(vinylbenzyl chloride-co-divinylbenzene) monoliths by polymerisation of the continuous phase of the high internal phase emulsion and by bulk polymerisation. The polymerisation reaction was induced using the thermal initiator α,α'-azoisobutyronitrile, redox initiator N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethane-1,2-diamine in combination with the thermal initiator ammonium persulfate and photoinitiators Irgacure 784 and H-Nu 470. The results showed, that poly(vinylbenzyl chloride-co-divinylbenzene) monoliths can be successfully synthesized by bulk polymerisation and by polymerisation of a continuous phase of high internal phase emulsion when induced by a thermal and redox initiator. Photopolymerisation, which can be induced by daylight or blue light of LED lights, has been successful only in bulk polymerisation. The polymerisation of high internal phase emulsion did not give a polymer product. For this reason, the crosslinker divinylbenzene was replaced with trimethylpropane triacrylate. The polymerisation of the continuous phase of high internal phase emulsion based on vinylbenzyl chloride-co-trimethylpropane triacrylate and bulk polymerisation of vinylbenzyl chloride crosslinked with trimethylpropane triacrylate were successful with photoinitiator Irgacure 784. Based on the results, we conclude that the success of polymerisation is influenced by several factors. In our case, the selected crosslinker, the selected initiator and the light source.
