V svoji diplomski nalogi sem raziskovala vpliv alkohola, enega izmed možnih dejavnikov .

Title:Credibility of intoxicated eyewitnesses
Abstract:Investigators want to get reliable, credible and accurate information from victims and witnesses of various criminal acts. The statements of victims and eyewitnesses are based on their perception, memory, ability to restore memories and ability to retrieve information. Furthermore, the statements are also influenced by other factors. Therefore, information we get from witnesses can often be slightly inaccurate, or even incorrect in some cases. In my thesis I explored the influence of one of the possible factors – alcohol, which is a prevalent and generally accepted drug of today’s society. Beer, wine, spirits and other alcoholic beverages are a normal and expected in most social events. In addition, alcohol commonly accompanies different offences and other criminal acts. Drunk people more easily become victims of different crimes, but at the same time they also commit crimes more often. The reason is that alcohol as a psychoactive substance negatively affects our behaviour, thoughts and other cognitive functions such as perception and memory. However, the effect of alcohol depends on each individual and their characteristics, making it more difficult to judge how credible witnesses under the influence of alcohol are. In my thesis I presented alcohol, its effects and consequences for health. In addition, I explain how memory works, why memory errors occur, why we forget some of our memories and some techniques to recall information. In the second part, I discuss my findings as to what can help us examine witnesses under the influence of alcohol and determine their suggestibility and credibility.
