Title:Children's attitudes towards sports according to gender and age
Abstract:The purpose of the master's thesis was to determine the attitudes of children towards sports according to gender and age, we were interested in sport´s activities children are engaging in, their duration and frequency, leisure activities, environmental incentives to engage in sports activities, motives for engagement and the reasons for not engaging in sports and favorite sports, and the time devoted to the implementation of these activities in schools. The sample included 441 children, of which 212 boys and 229 girls attend primary schools in Slovenia. Differences in the frequency of sports activities and the duration of sports activities, as well as differences in claims, were checked by t-test for independent samples. Statistically significant differences were determined at the risk level of 0.05. The results of the research show that boys and girls practice different sports in clubs or societies, and there are also differences in the duration and frequency of sports activities. Boys and girls also do not choose the same leisure activities, their motives for engaging in sports also differ, as also some differences were found in the popularity of the disciplines from the Curriculum for the subject of Sports and their implementation. Compared to girls, boys devote themselves more often and for longer to sports activities, while girls attend music school and read books more often.
