Abstract:Pedagoški delavci imajo pomembno vlogo v otrokovem času izobraževanja in vzgoje.

Title:Attitudes and professional expecience of pedagogical workers in the field of child abuse treatment
Abstract:Pedagogical staff play an essential role during child's education and upbringing. Besides teaching, planning, evaluating and consoling they monitor child’s development. Every child’s change in behaviour, either good or bad, is immediately visible. The children come from different family environments. They should feel safe and accepted in the family, but sadly a lot of times a family unit is a violent and inappropriate environment for a child. Therefore, the task of pedagogical staff is to recognize the sings of abuse and its consequences, and to act accordingly when such a suspicion arises. In this Master’s Thesis the focus has been violence and suspicion of child abuse. In the theoretical chapter of this thesis, we have introduced in detail one of the forms of violence – neglect – as well as the role of a teacher, i.e., pedagogical staff, and how to act when the signs of violence to a child have been recognized. We have also considered the signs and opinions as well as expertise of pedagogical staff concerning this issue. The aim of the empirical chapter of this thesis has been to research the knowledge and expertise of pedagogical staff in the field of child abuse. The scope of the research has encompassed 140 pedagogical staff from primary schools in the Pomurje Region. The research has contained questions on how to react if they suspect a child abuse, questions on their opinions if their training and schooling has emphasised enough the issue on child abuse as well as a type of questions where pedagogical staff filled in their opinions and standpoints.
