V času laktacije so bili pujski razdeljeni v dve skupini: S − skupinska reja (možnost prehajanja med boksi) in I − individualna reja (klasičen porodni boks).

Title:Effect of early piglet socialisation on the degree of weaning aggression
Abstract:The aim of the study was to determine the effect of early piglet socialization on the degree of weaning aggression. During lactation, piglets were divided into two groups: S-group lactation system (possibility of passing between pens) and I-individual housing system (standard farrowing crate). The study was carried out with 4 replicates at a research pig farm (at FKBV) from February 2017 to May 2018. A total of 143 piglets were included. At weaning, all piglets were weighed, marked, and reallocated. Aggressive interactions were analysed with the aid of video technology. We studied eight different forms of aggressive interaction (head thrust, tail biting, head/ear biting, body biting, "dog bite" and mounting). Videos were analysed between the 1st and 8th day after weaning, between 7am and 3pm. The results revealed a high frequency of aggressive interactions between male-to-female (51 %) and less female-to-female fights (17 %). The most fights occurred between piglets with the minimal difference in age (63 %, difference in age is 0) and in body weight (64 %, maximum 2 kg of difference). In 74 % of aggressive interactions, an exact combination of two piglets appeared only once in the observed period. In group I, we recorded 3,7 fights per piglet, but in group S only 1,9 fights per piglet. The degree of aggression was significant lower (p = 0.001) in-group S (0.038) compared to group I (0.072). The results thus indicate that group housing during lactation, which enables an early socialisation, has a positive effect on reducing aggressive behaviour when forming new groups at weaning.
