Title:Testing the E-Materials Prepared in the Project on Digitalization of the Pinetum in the UM Botanical Garden with the Students of the Secondary School for Wood Processing, Foresty and Design in Maribor
Abstract:The aim of this diploma thesis was to research if the e-learning materials about pinetum complex in Botanical garden of University of Maribor, created by ŠPIK project, contribute to better levels of knowledge, if this kind of learning is appropriate for usage and if the materials are understandable and interesting. The research included students from Secondary school for wood processing Maribor, from the programs Forestry and Forestry technician. We tested their knowledge about conifers two times, before and after reading certain e-materials. We tested the students with Quiz 1 and Quiz 2, both created on the Moodle platform. The students were separated into two groups, read the materials and took Quiz 2: group 1 was taking Quiz 2 in the classroom and group 2 at the visit of the pinetum. The results of the quizzes averaged at 25.6 points before reading and 29.5 points after reading the e-materials. The results were better, of the setting they read and took the quiz in. The proportion of read materials (average 25–50%) did not affect the success of the quiz 2 results. The students evaluated the agreeability of learning in nature and using ICT during the lessons with a score of 5.3 on a scale from 1 to 7.
