Intervjuje sem opravila na šestih osnovnih šolah iz Dravinjske doline in njene okolice. Zbrane podatke sem obdelala s postopkom kvalitativne analize v šestih korakih: ureditev podatkov, določitev enot kodiranja, kodiranje, definiranje pojmov, definiranje kategorij in teoretična formulacija.

Title:The Part the School Takes in Developing Specific Students' Talents in the Field of Sports as Perceived by Teachers and Students
Abstract:The purpose of this thesis was to examine certain ways of working with elementary school students who show special talent in the field of physical activities and to find out whether and how schools could additionally help those students - who are already members of different sport clubs - with developing their talent. I aimed to get the sports-talented students and PE teachers’ opinion on how their schools take care of the students who show talent in sports. The research included 22 sports-talented students from 5thto 9thgrade and their PE teachers. The interviews were conducted in 6 primary schools in the region of the Dravinja Valley and its surroundings. The collected data were processed with qualitative analysis which includes the following six steps: arranging the data, determining the units of coding, coding, defining the concepts, defining the categories, and technical formulation. The participating schools already do quite a lot for sports-talented students, for they provide suitable training conditions, conditions for various sports activities, additional PE classes, and well-educated PE teachers. The schools also make sure the students get to participate in school sports competitions, provide transport to the latter, and enable a special status for the students who show talent in sports. They also offer various activities, such as workshops for the talented, sport-themed breaks, school sports competitions, and one-week school-related activities in nature. Yet, some of the listed are rarely carried out. However, both, the talented students and their teachers, agree that the schools could do more to offer some additional help to the students who show talent in sports. They suggest more PE classes for the talented students. The teachers also suggest adding these additional PE classes to the regular students’ schedule, organizing more activities such as various workshops and camps, enabling participation in more different sports, and cooperating with the students’ coaches. They also suggest that the schools should enhance the teachers’ education about working with talented students and that specialized PE teachers should be in charge of teaching PE even in the frist triade. They also stated the need for changes in the system of recognizing students who show talent in sports.
