Title:The problem of aging population and its impact on the labor market in Slovenia
Abstract:In Slovenia, as in most of Europe, an actual problem of demographic aging process, has been marked as having a negative impact on economic development. These impacts of demographic aging process are seen in a number of people that are yet to arrive into the labor market, the number of inactive population, number of people that are leaving the labor market and overall number of active older population. The aging process is creating an imbalance between active population and pensioners, that are being supported by public funds. At the same time, expenses for health care, social care and pensions are rising continuously with the number of pensioners. We presume, that the demographic problem of population aging, is infecting the economic development in Slovenia. This diploma project is to analyse the impact of demographic changes on labor market and public finances in Slovenia. At the same time, we are to give possible solutions to this problem, based on examples from other countries, that have already taken measures in order to adjust the labor market onto the demographic situation. Based on that, we are to imply thoughtful actions, considering laws and labor market adjustments, to be taken in Slovenia, that would improve the situation on labor market, and lead to further economic developement of the country as a whole.
