Abstract:Tetoviranje je skozi zgodovino nenehno spreminjalo svoj status – od nesprejemljivega do dela vsakdana. Raziskavo smo zasnovali preko intervjujev, kjer smo intervjuvali izbrane tatu umetnike, preko analize izločili enega, ki v Sloveniji zastopa pojem tatu umetnika.

Title:The development of new styles in the art of tattoos
Abstract:Through history, status of tattooing was constantly changing - from unacceptable to the work of everyday. In theoretical part we outlined the rises and falls of tattooing's popularity from 19th century until today. Popularity today is skyrocketing, since it is connected with current trends and pop culture. Media and social networks both have an impact, because they dictate trends, modern fashion and our lives in general. We were figuring out how tattooing is included and expressed in modern art around the world and in Slovenia, and if it could be percieved as an art practice. We studied the purpose, meaning and iconography of a tattoo. We also glimpsed into the future, where tattoos will have an even bigger impact than today. We outlined some of the new tattooing styles and explained the difference between tattooist and tattoo artist. We schemed our research through interviews, where we talked to tattoo artists, and through analysis extracted the one, who represents the concept of a tattoo artist. In practical part we outlined personal source material for a tattoo, in which we focused heavily on theoretical part findings, research and definitions of tattoo artists.
