Title:Factors of Wage Differences and Comparison of Wages in the Selected European Economies
Abstract:In the following diploma thesis explanatory factors of wage differences are presented and analysed as well as wages in the selected European economies, namely Austria, Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia, are compared. Wage represents an important factor in any individual's life, because it is perceived as a more or less regular income for a daily living. It is formed on the labour market that consequently presents one of the more important markets throughout people's lifetime. In the first part of the thesis we focus on the labour market and its basic elements. In the second part the dynamics of nominal and real net and gross wages in the period from 2006 to 2015 are analysed. What is shown by the data is that the highest real net wages among the selected economies are in Austria and the lowest are in Hungary. According to the level of real net wage, Slovenia ranks third among the selected economies, after Italy and before Croatia. Furthermore, it was established that there are wage differences among different economic activities and among the gender. The possible reasons for both are presented in this thesis on the basis of the explanatory factors of wage differences.
Keywords:wage, wage differences, European Union, labour market, gross domestic product.
