Title:The Use of English Language in Daily Communication of Slovene Youth
Abstract:The contact of Slovenian and English languages is not a new phenomenon. It has spread tremendously in the modern age of the Internet. Since we are practically surrounded with English language everywhere we go, it is not surprising that we started using it in everyday communication with other Slovenian speaking individuals. Be it only a word here and there, a phrase or even a complete sentence. The language contact is most obviously seen when being online. That’s where we strive to be as responsive and as present as possible. This leads to an incorrect use of the language. There are many different reasons for switching between the languages and for mixing them and the reasons for doing that also differ from one individual to another. Experts’ opinions about mixing of the languages differ from one another, as do the predictions of consequences that mixing of the languages might have in the future.
