Title:Environmentally friendly vehicles and factors that influence their purchase
Abstract:Environmental pollution and efforts to reduce it are lately the topic of many discussions. Traffic is also a major source of pollution. In this thesis we have focused on road traffic and cars that pollute the environment with their emissions. Such pollution can be significantly reduced by replacing classic vehicles with environmentally-friendly vehicles. The main question here is how to persuade the customer to buy an environmentally-friendly vehicle. In order to make suggestions on how to increase the use of environmentally-friendly vehicles, we analyzed the survey that was carried out in Scotland for the needs of this thesis. With the help of the responses and the comparison to the results with already conducted surveys (Borthwick & Carreno, 2012; Zupan, 2014), we determined the main factors that influence the decision to buy an environmentally friendly vehicle. By analyzing the responses of the survey, we found out that price and charging infrastructure are one of the main factors influencing the decision to buy environmentally-friendly vehicles. Considering automotive charachteristics, safety features are of great importance to respondents, in financial characteristics the cost of insurance, in environmental characteristics CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases. However, potential buyers are most stimulated by subsidies. With rising fuel prices, lower EV prices and better charging infrastructure, more and more people would purchase environmentally-friendly vehicles.
