Policisti in preiskovalci so večino svojega časa v stiku z osumljenci, pričami in žrtvami kaznivih dejanj, zato je komunikacija glavni element njihovega dela. V prvem delu smo opisali komunikacijo (verbalno in neverbalno), spomin, laganje, ugotavljanje laži pri preiskovanju kaznivih dejanj, kognitivno obremenitev in kognitivni intervju.

Title:Lie detection by the cognitive load theory
Abstract:The final work focuses on the deception detection trough cognitive load theory. Cognitive load is one of the methods by which we can load our thought processes and memory. We focused on cognitive load in connection with the detection of potential liars in the investigation of criminal offenses. Police officers and investigators spend most of their time in contact with suspects, witnesses and victims of crime, so communication is the main element of their work. Communication enables them to get as much information as possible from persons involved in the crime. Interviewing these people is not always as it should be. It often happens that the interviewee is lying to the investigator. Liars are not only discovered through careful monitoring of word communication, but also non-verbal communication is often crucial. Due to a huge number of verbal and non-verbal factors that indicate that a person is lying, the work of investigators is extremely difficult. We have decided to present, the methods with which investigators can more effectively detect the credibility of the testimony. Final work tells about a transparent theoretical study on the use of cognitive load in lie detection. In the theoretical part, we described communication (verbal and non-verbal), memory, lying, lie detection by the crime investigation, cognitive load and cognitive interview. In addition to the theoretical definition, some examples from practice were also given for easier understanding. In the second part, we examined some foreign research, through which we wanted to show the effectiveness of cognitive load in lie detection.
