Title:Critical success factors of competence development in a company
Abstract:We believe that companies' investing in education, new competences and career development of their employees is not only extremely important but also essential for their business success. In this diploma work the mein topic are competencies and their development within the company. We define competencies as the activities and behaviour which can be observed when the work is done well. With the aim to help HR practitioners with the development of competency development programs in organisations we investigated the critical success factors of competency development program in an organisation which implemented such a program. We wanted to confirm two hypotheses. The first being that unrealistically inflated self-evaluation lovers the level of motivation for developmentt of competncies, and the second that the lack of leadership competencies affects the success level of the development program. We suspected that the underlying reason could be the lack of leaders' support to the participants during and after the development program. The applied qualitative methodology, based on observation with full participation, group discussions and targeted interviews helped us confirm both hypotheses.
