Abstract:Korupcija oz. zloraba moči ni nov fenomen.

Title:Corruption in the world and its harmful effects
Abstract:Corruption or the abuse of power is not a new phenomenon. It is the problem that appears in all historic times of human development. However, the forms and the magnitudes of corruption vary very much according to the levels of socio-economic development and technological progress. In the diploma thesis we focused on the characteristics and the negative effects of corruption in the world today. It negatively impacts economic growth, business growth and development, investments, allocation of human resources, government consumption and development aid. We came to the conclusion that in last years, the corruption in the politics in the poorest countries has remained the same, whilst in the rapidly developing countries it decreases, since these countries are becoming more and more alike to developed countries according to their economic performance and doing business. Also, it is possible to find out a progress in decreasing corruption in the most advanced countries in the world. Corruption is the biggest problem just in the less developed countries, in the developed countries, however, it is not efficiently eliminated. The level of corruption and the GDP per capita are negatively correlated, however, there exists some exceptions. With appropriate mechanisms it is further necessary to strive to lower the corruption in the society. Corruption or the abuse of power is not a new phenomenon.
