V teoretičnem delu smo zbrali razna spoznanja o branju in bralnih sposobnostih, veliko pozornosti smo namenili bralni motivaciji in vplivu staršev, vrstnikov in učitelja nanjo.

Title:ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES ON PUPIL´S READING MOTIVATION IN YEAR 3
Abstract:Nowadays, reading plays an important role in everyday life of each individual. Therefore, a lot of attention is paid to reading in schools. Some students look forward to reading so their teachers have no problems motivating them for reading. On the other hand, there are children entering school who are not very motivated to read due to the lack of contact with books in their preschool period. Also, a lot of people whose mother tongue is not Slovene immigate to Slovenia. These children experience difficulties in communicating with their peers, with the Slovenian language and consequently with reading. The theoretical framework of this dissertation discusses various concepts of reading and reading achievement. It especially focuses on reading motivation and the impacts that parents, peers and teachers have on its development. We additionally list some effective ways and methods of motivating students for reading. Our study researches the reading motivation of third graders and the influences of a (non)stimulating social environment on reading motivation. Third-grade students from 2 primary schools were interviewed. On one of the schools, we selected primarily students from less stimulating environments and immigrants, whereas on the other school, students from stimulating environments were selected. The findings from the interviews were compared in relation to the students' social environment and gender.
