Njen pripovedni opus obsega pet proznih del, in sicer štiri romane in eno zbirko kratke proze. Avtorica v njih tematizira rasno mešano zvezo, rasizem, odtujen odnos med družinskimi člani (zlasti med materjo in hčerjo) in erotiko. Analizirali smo sledeča pripovedna besedila, kjer so prisotne omenjene teme:  Koža iz bombaža (2007),  V visoki travi (2009),  Sušna doba (2012),  Nočne pokrajine (2014),  Intimno (2015).

Title:The Feauters of Gabriela Babnik`s Prose in the Context of Contemporary Slovenian Literature
Abstract:In the Master's Thesis entitled The Features of Gabriela Babnik’s Prose in the Context of Contemporary Slovenian Literature we are dealing with literary texts of Gabriela Babnik, who is a Slovenian writer, translator, literary critic and specialist in African literature. Her narrative opus includes five prose works, namely four novels and one collection of short stories. In these works, the author deals with racially mixed relationship, racism, alienated relationship among family members (especially between a mother and a daughter) and eroticism. We analysed the following narrative texts, in which these topics are mentioned:  Koža iz bombaža (2007),  V visoki travi (2009),  Sušna doba (2012),  Nočne pokrajine (2014),  Intimno (2015). At the same time, we are interested in the topics, motifs, forms and genres of contemporary Slovenian novel, in particular the texts of some contemporary Slovenian female authors which show motivic-thematic and linguistic-stylistic parallels with Gabriela Babnik's prose (Sonja Porle, Suzana Tratnik, Maruša Krese, Nataša Sukič and Mojca Kumerdej). In the centre of the narrative of these authors are individuals who do not meet the criteria of the mainstream society and are therefore detached from it, which is also the central theme in Gabriela Babnik's prose.
