|Abstract:||The aim of this diploma with title VIOLENCE AGAINST ELDERLY is to explore sorts and extent of violence which the occurs in society, with an emphasis which types of violence and the extent are exposed elderly. By definition, the World Health Organization for the older person is considered a person who is older than 65 years.
The problem of society is aging world population, particularly in the developed world. The thesis is therefore also presents problems of aging and the impact of an aging population in the developed world. As a growing proportion of the elderly population means that increasing violence against the elderly.
The main task of the thesis by reference to the argument of the thesis is to investigate the extent of violence in Slovenia against older women (if are older women more exposed to violence than older men) and older men, personality characteristics the doers of violence and victims. Attention is to investigate whether victims in practice, when experiencing violence search help, and violence also notify.
Older people often experience psychological, physical, economic, institutional violence, sexual violence, and neglect. Experienced by the family, hospitals, homes for the elderly. Created by family members, relatives, carers and others. The most frequent victims of violence against elderly are older women. The causes of violence are: disease of the doers of violence, mental disorders in perpetrators of violence, poverty, unemployment, alcohol abuse, stress they are exposed to carers, social tolerance towards violence. In most cases, victims of violence do not report and do not seek help. The reasons are: fear of incomprehension surroundings, shame, fear of the procedures and the loss of housing.|
