Title:Detection of blood doping in Slovenia
Abstract:Doping is one of the burning problems associated with sport, athletes and trainers. The term doping consists of many other terms, which refer to substances and methods being abused in order to achieve better results at competitions. In my thesis I focused on blood doping, its characteristics, application, prevention and detection in the Republic of Slovenia. Blood doping detection is a serious problem, especially from the financial perspective. The Slovenian Anti-Doping Organisation (SLOADO) is authorized for testing and blood doping detection. Its operation is regulated by the regulations and protocols of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Doping is mostly used in endurance sports and it is a forbidden method. Athletes are trying to improve their performance and endurance with blood manipulation. We can say that the new blood doping detection methods in Slovenia are based on standardised analysis, taking blood and urine samples and their transport. The entire process is carried out in accredited and standardised laboratories. The results are recorded in the biological passport.
