Z njim se srečujemo v družbi in v zasebnem življenju, v šoli, na zabavah in v družini.

Title:SPORT AS PROTECTIVE MECHANISM FOR PREVENTING CRIME/VIOLENCE AMONG YOUTH: JUDO
Abstract:Violence has always been a part of society, and it can occur in various forms. Acts of violence can be detected in public and private life, in school, at parties, and even in home among family members. The main goal of every society is to find effective mechanisms for violence prevention. There are several programs around the world aiming to deter the offenders from committing further violence. Despite the efforts to prevent violence, it is impossible to completely eliminate it from our society. That is why many support programs have been developed to provide help to victims of violence. This thesis focuses on physical violence among youth. The first part is dedicated to defining violence and describing different ways of crime prevention. The second part focuses on sport as a mechanism for crime prevention. It examines the use of martial arts, in particular judo, as a program to prevent youth crime. Judo develops strong character traits, such as discipline, manners, persistence and confidence, that are essential for success and are respected by society. One of the most important aspects of judo is the respect for others. Judokas are taught to never deliberately hurt their opponent. They learn to win a fight by using their opponent's force. The research has confirmed the hypothesis that those who participate in judo are less likely to engage in acts of physical violence and have reduced anti-social behaviour.
