Title:DESIGNING APPROACH FOR SELF-ASSESSMENT OF LEADERSHIP STYLE
Abstract:On one hand, the leader’s activities are specified by capabilities, skills and personal characteristics that the leader has to control and, on the other hand, by the leadership style applied by him while executing his tasks and working with people. This is performed in different situations when the leader has to pay attention that the work process is carried out efficiently, as he is responsible for reaching the goals to be realized by the organisation. In my thesis a few selected leadership styles have been presented and on their basis different questionnaires were drafted (by using the Microsoft Excel programme) in order to enable the leaders to make a self-evaluation of their leadership styles. In the empirical part of the thesis questionnaires were filled out by two leaders; one with plenty of experience and the other one who has just started practising. The results, obtained from the theoretically drafted questionnaires, have been later compared with those, resulting from their intuitive perception of the leadership style. We have obtained those results from a questionnaire, which was designed especially for that particular purpose. We have concluded that the mentioned tools enable individual leaders to make a self-evaluation of their own leadership style and roughly indicate their weaknesses and deficiencies, as well as the positive traits of their leadership activities. Work experience also plays an important role in this process.
