Title:INVENTORY MANAGEMENT POLICIES AT GUMITEHNA ITD.
Abstract:Gumitehna d.o.o. is an enterprise engaged in selling technical rubber products in Slovenia, the EU, and the field of former Yugoslavia. Currently, its main problem is managing supplies. Excess inventory causes unnecessary stocking expenses, whereas insufficient inventory means expenses due to the supply deficiency and consequently customer attrition. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the range of inventory management policies suitable for Gumitehna d.o.o. A theoretic research on the importance and different kinds of inventory, inventory expenses, inventory management policies and performance indicators has been made. The empiric part of the thesis represents an analysis of the current situation – business model of the company, current inventory management policies, and current inventory levels. For basic statistics analysis and figuring out the order of importance of the chosen criteria, we used Orange software tool. In the following part of the thesis we introduce some propositions for changing the inventory management in Gumitehna d.o.o. which include qualitative and quantitative methods for demand forecasting (individually or combined). We have determined that the change we suggested can accurately manage inventory of at least 44% of the products in separate groups (only changes with the use of quantitative methods were evaluated here).
Keywords:Inventory, inventory management policies, inventory management performance indicators.
