Abstract:V tem magistrskem delu je predstavljena eye tracking študija smeri pogledov voznikov na ravnih cestah in njihova povezanost s prometnimi nesrečami.

Title:Eye tracking study of driver gaze direction on straight roads and its connection to road traffic accidents
Abstract:In this master’s thesis paper we present our eye tracking study of driver gaze direction on straight roads, and its connection to road traffic accidents. The whole paper is based around eye tracking footage, acquired by having volunteer drivers use Tobii Pro Glasses in everyday driving conditions on actual roads. This footage was analyzed and gaze statistics for straighter road sections was compiled. Analyzing road accident data over the last decade in Slovenia, provided the basis for connecting the gaze data specifically to pile-up type crashes. Among other things, we determined that while drivers do tend to have a very wide dispersion of gaze fixation points, it wasn’t enough to conclude that it negatively contributes to traffic accidents on straight roads. Another important part of our study, was analyzing part of some interview answers from the participating drivers. These along with our own personal experience would present our view on the suitability of using this eye tracking technology for similar research and increasing road safety awareness. In short, we found it to be very suitable. To summarize: these three main analyses, together with some basic theory of eyesight, eye movement and visual attention, plus an overview of eye tracking technology in general, represent our work in this paper.
