Razložili smo, kakšni podatki so »Open Translation Data«. Zbrane podatke in spoznanja smo ustrezno uredili in obdelali. Skozi celotno nalogo se prepletajo in dopolnjujejo naslednje metode dela: deskriptivna metoda, komparativna metoda, metoda klasifikacije ter metoda analize in sinteze.

Title:SLOVENE-GERMAN BREASTFEEDING TERMINOLOGY
Abstract:Based on a study of existing contemporary literature and sources on breastfeeding a terminology glossary for the Slovenian German language combination that can be used as a new translation tool was compiled. The thesis is divided into two parts: the first theoretical part focuses on technical translation, makes a differentiation between technical and general language, and emphasises the importance of understanding the terminology used in technical texts. Furthermore, methods for gathering appropriate information with the aid of modern technologies, electronic sources, corpora and last but not least translation forums were examined. What is more, the term terminological database was defined and differences between the terms terminology collection (database) and terminology dictionary summarised. As a way of example Evroterm and IATE – the best known and most useful terminology databases – were presented. In addition the thesis gives an explanation of Open Translation Data. Language knowledge is not enough to ensure a good translation; therefore the thesis defines the term translation competencies and gives three examples of competencies concept comprehension. Lastly, breastfeeding is described. Here, the main advantages of breastfeeding for the child and the mother and the greatest challenges in breastfeeding were brought forward. In addition to that, various positions and techniques in breastfeeding, the composition of the mother’s milk and alternative ways of feeding were described. The second empirical part of the thesis is a glossary on the topic of breastfeeding. The glossary is bilingual, namely Slovenian German and German Slovenian. Predominantly, the glossary is intended for use by translators as well as experts working in the field of breastfeeding; it can also be used by laypeople if they come across less known terms while reading. The thesis was composed based on the study of literature and by collecting sources and documentation. The data gathered and the findings were appropriately arranged and processed. Through the entire thesis the following methods intertwine and complement each other: a descriptive method, a comparative method, the method of classification and analysis, and the synthesis method.
Keywords:technical language, electronic sources, text corpora, terminology databases, Open Translation Data, translation process, translation competencies, breastfeeding, glossary.
